My Story

It was the year 1968 when this photo of dad and I was taken at Continental Motors in Farmington Connecticut. He had a SUNOCO gas station which included sales and service of European automobiles. I would go there on the weekends to help out (see the photo; I’m the little guy telling my dad what to do).

When Porsche Cars of North America decided to put in a new car dealership which included Audi and sister company Volkswagen in the neighboring town of Avon, they made my dad an offer which he could not refuse (I know, I know, it sounds like a scene from the Godfather) so he closed up shop and went over to be their top technician.

After high school I attended trade school to learn automotive collision, refinishing, mechanical and design. Upon graduation, I went to work for Chevrolet to gain experience at the dealer level. I continued with my education attending training courses during the couple of years that I spent with Chevy. I had also been taking on repairs of other types of specialty cars, but mainly Porsche. This was because of dad and his reputation. Known as “The Doctor”, a real perfectionist and master certified technician. I guess it rubbed off, it enabled me to have my own reputation and a small car club called “Capozzi’s Custom Car line”. The name represented a line of cars that have been customized or repaired to perfection by me.
Then in 1986 I bought a building in the city of New Britain which I rehabbed and made ready for the grand opening of my collision and refinishing business on November 1, 1987. I decided to use the name of my car club since it had a meaning to it.

In 1989 Porsche, Audi of Avon closed its doors due to the bad economy and Capozzi’s collision and refinishing expanded the building to accommodate for our new mechanical and service bays headed up by my father Ezio Capozzi.

Over time our clients were looking to us to buy all kinds of automobiles. This demand for quality vehicles came from a trusting relationship that we had developed with every one of our clients over the years.
Capozzi’s has provided its clients with not only sports cars, luxury and exotics, but also with pickups, vans, economy cars and SUV’s.

Today dad and I are still the lead service technicians at the shop. Since I hand pick every car that we sell, it doesn’t leave much time for me to be in the body shop unless we are designing something.

Joel Ouellette manages the body shop and is also an ICAR certified collision and refinishing technician. He has years of experience and training and is always ready to assist you with any insurance or non-insurance claim that you may have. Trust me; this guy will exceed your expectations.

My little brother Ezio Jr. is the office manager. He handles client scheduling, parts ordering, motor vehicle inspections, emissions and registration.

Currently, our name represents the sale of fine certified automobiles with a service and auto body department that can customize or repair your vehicle back to original factory specifications.
